Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: Focused on Problems

Have you ever noticed how focused our thoughts are on problems? It can either help you to view things more clearly too where you can make a decision or in some cases may pull you down because you cannot find a solution; which can alimentally wear on our rational thinking process. It’s like being on the end of the rope thinking it’s hopeless to keep trying to get to that ledge. Especially if there is no encouragement from inside or outside to give us hope! It’s no wonder the Bible tells us we are the most vulnerable species on this planet! For it really depends upon the circumstances confronting us as to how rational our thinking is! It ‘amazing how marvelously complicated we are! I think of animals or birds and how they are more geared to instinct and learning from their parents as to how to survive and take care of their young. A mother may lay on their young without knowing it or possible realize they have too many young to take care of and may eliminate some, so the rest will survive; for they are here to procreate and are willing to give their lives so their young could have the same privilege. It’s amazing we are the only ones on this earth that can think and that can show empathy in sharing in so many loving ways to help our children or others and even wildlife; but under the right circumstances may turn away from our own children or close friends because of what they did or are doing. Our emotions can go from calm and collected to anger in a matter of seconds and at that moment may not be thinking at all; and reach out through our emotions to say something or to do something that we may regret for the rest of our lives. I have found there is only one solution to possibly solving the problem before it takes place and or mending the breach once it happens! It starts with looking to our creator God for help to prepare us for encounters of whatever is to come; as well as asking him for forgiveness for our part in whatever took place. Then ask for the words to say and or giving us the willingness to try to mend that gap in whatever way we can! Then just lean on Him to help us do it.

Christian Outdoor Recreation:    Reporting on:   # 2  Dealing with the Truth

I responded, so, let me make sure I have this straight.  All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven.  Is that correct?  The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie Jar.  He sheepishly replied, yes.  I then stated, well sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!  The Imam was speechless!  I continued, I also have a problem with being your friend when you and you brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me!  Let me ask you a question:  Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?  You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame. Needless to say, the organizers and / or promoters of the Diversification training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims’ beliefs.

Christian Outdoor Recreation:       Reporting on:   #1 Dealing with the Truth

This true story and the author is a well-know leader in prison ministry.  He said the man who walks with God always gets to his destination and If you have a pulse you have a purpose in life.                                            The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!  Last month I attended my annual training session that’s required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.  I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.  After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.  When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: Please, correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand that most Imams and Clerics of Islam have declared a holy Jihad [Holy war] against the Infidels of the world, and that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven.  If that’s the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?  There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, “Non-believers!”

Where do you place your trust?

Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: Where do you place your trust?

I got to thinking this morning as too where we put our trust! We look at the things that we are occupied with such as our jobs, homes, cars, motorcycles, recreation of all kinds including our main focus, relationships. We know something is missing in our lives and have recognized for some time that the good times in life are limited, to where we have no problems; since that is not always the case, that Leaves us with a deep longing from within for a peace and calmness to where there would be no downs; seemly to most everything we experience in life now. I have been around long enough now to know that there is nothing on this earth that we will not have a problem with at one time or another and that all things are common to man as too what can happen to anyone! It could be a deer jumping on the hood of the car at 60 miles an hour or getting picked up by helicopter off of the top of your house, in a flood area or just maybe picking up something and a person’s back goes out! We never know what we are going to be faced with! The most important thing though is; who do we put our hope and trust in when we can’t help our self or someone else that is depending on us. If we are depending on our self; something like I just described could take you to the lowest level you have ever been at because of that feeling of hopelessness that can confront any of us in life. Believe me, it makes a difference as to whom you put your faith and trust in as to how we view the things that happens in our lives. If we are a created being and we know that we are! To whom should we look too first when we have problems or just want someone to tell our troubles to? How many of us continue to run things across our minds, thinking I can come up with the solution; frustrating us to no end at times; instead of looking to our Creator God for the solution that will work best?

Berger Bash Story #1 Elk Hunting in the Silvies Unit

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

Christian Outdoor Recreation:                              Reporting on:    # I Elk Hunting in the Silvies Unit

Story # I told at the Burger Bash was about Elk hunting in the Silvies Unit of Oregon and at that time there was no snow.   About a week before the first rifle season for Elk, a father and his son being I8yrs old scouted out an area they wanted to hunt.  They found a lot of fresh sign in the area as the ground was fairly moist and decided there was no need of looking elsewhere!  Monday morning around 4am they took off for their hunting area.   Once there, they found all kinds of new tracks.  They walked together till they came to where the mountain split in two directions but still paralleled one another.  They decided at that point to split up.  Sometime later the father sees several Elk in a draw but it was some distance from him so he calls his son and told him to go down the hill he was on and come up the hill his dad was on.  The Son did what his father asks but they never did meet up.  Meanwhile the father kept watching till the Elk moved out of the draw.  The father then moved up after them and saw a number of them together but never could get a shot at the bulls; with one having massive horns but they were all standing in the midst of a number of cows.   The father then spotted another group about 200yrds off and saw a lone spike bull and pulled up and shot it.  The father then called his son as he was concerned and found out he was not far away so his son came over and helped gut it out.  Then the father told his son to keep hunting as he would go get the 4 wheeler and drag it back to the pickup.

Setup for the Big Buck and Berger Bash

Christian Outdoor Recreation:            Reporting on:   Setup for the Big Buck and Burger Bash

As far as outreach into our community, we each just ask friends and neighbors and the number has steadily increased every year.  The first thing we do the day before is set up tables and chairs as well as the tent which is 12x14ft. It is all one piece and has lengths of pipe and other fitting which makes the tent setup very nice. Once done with that, all the things you would normally take with you camping are placed in the tent or around it; like a cot, a bed or a hammock having metal legs along with sleeping bags and an old rifle and knife. What’s nice also is to have a fold up table which holds the legs and extra leafs along with the silver ware and once setup; will hold the stove as well as the pots and pans.  Camping chairs as well as a few stumps are set outside along with a water container, a shovel which is just outside the tent opening with a roll of toilet paper on the handle. A backpack and lantern is also set inside along with possibly a Guitar for singing songs.  There was one thing missing  this year though, the fire place.

The Order of Things

Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: The Order of Things:

Most people will agree we are a created being; not something that came about through chance in the Evolutionary order of things! I believe that the spirit of God is in us as well as around us every day where ever we might be. It can be found in the breeze, rain or even in the laughter of a child. Through love, kindness, respect and forgiveness, we bring about much good through these simple acts being directed toward ourselves and others. If you believe we were created, we must also except that we live in a very ordered Universe and should not view it as a series of random happening without it having a purpose. Without having that, there is no reason to give us the ability to love or care about anything! Our Creator has made this world a playground (so to speak) for each of us to experience love, loss, happiness and anger, ect. We all have need of recognizing that life’s mistakes are common to man and are for us to learn from. The only way to do that correctly though is to ask our Creator God for help to do it. Another thing we need to learn is that we have need of changing ourselves first before we try to change the world around us. It all falls upon our personal perspective as to how each of us sees the world or the circumstances we are confronted with;as to how we view this universe we live in. If one thing is out of kilter and it is not corrected it can cause chaos. This is why I say, we need to ask our Creator to draw us to the place where we can recognize our short comings and ask Him to help us to correct them!

A Reminder:

Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: A Reminder:

I believe you will agree that God has written Eternity on every heart especially when you consider that the Spirit of our Creator God indwells each of us for us to be here! But even with that being the case, we know we do not have it all together as it was never meant for us to have a total control over our lives. We were designed and placed here by our Creator to seek Him. He alone knows what we have need of at any given time or circumstance. He wants us to recognize that and to seek a dependence and trust upon Him only. It was never meant for any to fail. It is only because of the fall and me, myself and I that we know that there are missing pieces in our lives and it is only through the intervention of the Spirit of Our Creator God are the missing pieces found.
This still does not stop us from trying to resolve our problems though. For most of us that’s what it takes is for us to have enough confrontations with our problems and others for us to be torn up enough inside so we are willing to listen to the Spirit of our God; for it is He who made a provision for all the needs we face in this life; that need is met through Jesus Christ.
It is through that Name that we see a change take place in our life from the inside out that prepares us to view circumstances as something that is needed so we will rely more heavily on Him; to enable us to have that peace and leading from within to deal with whatever, knowing that God is in Control!

What do you have to be thankful for? #4

Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: What do you have to be Thankful for? #4

One time I was told of a man that helped some family out on the road and He gave them his name and telephone number, so if they needed more help they could call him. They happened to find someone who knew the fellow and found out he had no job. They, then called a friend and told him about the Guy, He in turn called the man and told him he had a job for him and for him to show up ready to work at an office job. The reason given, He cared for others and would make a good employee! I would like to share with you now 2 special incidents that could have altered the life of my Wife and I immensely. One is article: (Have you ever felt blessed when your Car was Totaled) edited on 4/23/10. The next one I would just as soon forget is (A day at the Lake #2 unprepared) and involves a Whirl Pool edited on 2/7/10. We never know when a very special Blessing will come into our lives like this last one which was totally unexpected. My wife was talking to a cousin she had not talked too for quite some years. She said She was retiring and was going to pay off Her House mortgage. My Wife then mentioned we still have a mortgage on our home due to helping both of our Children over time and nothing else was said about it. A few months later a check came through the mail to pay off our Mortgage as well! Talk about GOD Blessing!

Christian Outdoor Recreation: Reporting on: What do you have to be Thankful for? #3

How many times in the past have you came real close to colliding with cattle on mountain curves or just having a deer jump on the hood of your car and come out without a scratch? I am not saying if a person gets into a wreck that they not blessed, far from it; for we are here even as a child to learn to except things as they come. For as long as we are alive we are blessed in so many ways through prayers being lifted up for us, people visiting, helping and seeking to comfort and encourage us In whatever way they can. All of this is to cause us to see the value of seeking a dependence upon our Creator God for help in whatever we are to face in this life. How many times have we seen multi-car pile ups or a Fire engine and lifted up prayers for those involved and thanked God it was not us? Praise is too the Lord for He is always there no matter what takes place, to help us! My Sister called a while back and told how she had made Quilts for all of her 6 children and their children as well. A little time passed by before hearing from all of them but each one said they either made their own or had received one from someone else. Upon hearing that she spent time in prayer and decided to give them to the homeless people in the area. She then asks one of her daughters to go with her into an area where Homeless people lived. They were ever so Grateful. One of those was an older pastor that lived among them to help them in any He could!
